Meet your Clinical Support Officer
David is a general practitioner who has worked in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services since 1991. He was Medical Director of Bega Garnbirrungu Health Services in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia from 1991 - 2004 and since 2005 has worked as a GP at Nunkuwarrin Yunti of SA in Adelaide. David has been involved with QAAMS as a participant for many years and since 2006 as Clinical Support Officer. He has seen firsthand the positive impact skilled health workers trained through the QAAMS program can have on their clients with diabetes.
David believes giving the patient instant feedback on their HbA1c and ACR results through the QAAMS program is an important tool in motivating patients to better manage their diabetes. With the new role of HbA1c in diagnosing diabetes the QAAMS program also enables health workers to empower patients with knowledge about their diabetes earlier.
As Clinical Support Officer David is available to answer any queries QAAMS participants have regarding understanding and interpreting HbA1c and ACR results and how these relate to your patients and their clinical situation. David works as part of a team including Aboriginal health practitioners/health workers, nurses and doctors and understands the type of information you may need in working with your patients with diabetes.
Please feel free to call David on his mobile PH: 0403 587 399. If he is unable to take your call leave a message and he will phone you back. Alternatively, you can email David at davidjdunn@yahoo.com
